Overview
Welcome to Vantage, a unique co-operative board game where you'll explore a vast, uncharted planet with your fellow players. You'll crash-land on this distant world and have the freedom to discover its secrets, interact with your companions, and define your own success. In Vantage, there's no set campaign or storyline – each game is a standalone adventure that's yours to create. With a focus on exploration and teamwork, you'll uncover the planet's mysteries and work together to achieve your goals.
What's in the Box
The Vantage game box contains nearly 1,400 cards that represent the entire planet, including its locations, events, and secrets. You'll also find a set of metal coins, a player board, and several other components that will help you navigate this vast world. The game is designed for 1-6 players, and each player will have a unique experience, even if they're playing together.
Setting Up
To begin, each player chooses a character and places their player board on the table. The game master will then shuffle the location cards and deal a set number to each player, depending on the number of players in the game. The remaining cards are placed face down in their respective decks, and the game master will draw the top card from each deck to determine the starting location for each player. The players will then choose their starting location and place their player board on the corresponding space.
How to Play
On each player's turn, they'll draw a location card and resolve the event or action on that card. This might involve exploring a new area, interacting with a non-player character, or discovering a hidden secret. Players can communicate with each other and share information about their discoveries, but they'll each see their own location and events in real-time. The game master will track the players' progress and provide additional location cards as needed. Players can work together to achieve their goals, but they can also choose to pursue their own objectives and create their own story.
Winning the Game
There are several ways to win in Vantage, including completing a mission, achieving a destiny, or completing both. However, the game also allows players to define their own success and create their own story. If all players agree, they can declare victory at any time and end the game. The game master will then award victory points to the players based on their achievements, and the player with the most points wins.
Tips for Beginners
Before you start playing Vantage, be sure to read the rules carefully and understand the game's mechanics. It's also a good idea to explore the planet's starting locations and get a feel for the game's pace. As you play, don't be afraid to communicate with your fellow players and share information about your discoveries. Remember, the goal of Vantage is to create a unique experience, so don't be afraid to experiment and try new things. With practice, you'll become a seasoned Vantage player and be ready to tackle the challenges of this vast, uncharted world.
